Natalie’s Mission

ANANKE was created to introduce readers to specific science disciplines that are integral to its world, like electromagnetism, cymatics, piezoelectric crystal technology, quantum physics, and artificial intelligence (A.I). At the same time, I'd like to bridge the gap between science and spirituality, and show how science can support spiritual ideas through new emerging data, particularly with quantum physics.
To give you a quick example, let’s talk spirituality. What does it mean to you? At its core, I define spirituality as a special connectedness with all things, something like a unified field. If we were to take a scientific explanation of this intuitive notion, there’s a concept called quantum entanglement, which explains, in the most general sense, that entangled particles remain connected despite the distance. So if one action is performed on one particle, it affects the other in the same manner. Albert Einstein called this “spooky action at a distance.”
Hello! My name is Natalie and I’m so grateful our paths have crossed. I’m the creator and writer of the ANANKE sci-fi graphic novel series, entrepreneur and owner of Raffish Press, as well as a lifestyle blogger that focuses on all the niche, nerdy chattels that have influenced my creative and professional life.
As my business name, Raffish Press, suggests, I’m not here to entertain you with the same old thematic tropes seen in entertainment media today, but to pave an unorthodox path that engages you and invokes questions about what it means to be human and the type of realities we create for ourselves.

In a quantum mechanical world, nothing is separate. Everything is an energy field with no borders to it. So what you do in your world is broadcasting to everything else and if it resonates or is in harmony with you, your energy can affect another’s energy and vice versa. This is absolutely mind blowing and nothing short of magic, but has been proven to be true, experiment after experiment. It’s clear that when you go quantum, things start to get really weird and interesting.
Now imagine if the spirituality of the ancient past, recycled by the religions of today, actually do have some validity and can be explained by quantum science? I believe something like that really changes you as a person, and I wanted to create a story that focuses on this idea as an undertone.
When it comes to understanding our universe, I’ve always referred to the interpretation of the late great British physicist, astronomer and mathematician, Sir James Hopwood Jeans, in his The Mysterious Universe :
“The stream of knowledge [referring to quantum physics] is heading towards a non-mechanical reality; the Universe begins to look more like a great thought than like a great machine. Mind no longer appears to be an accidental intruder into the realm of matter... we ought rather hail it as the creator and governor of the realm of matter.”
So if our reality is a product of our consciousness, our thoughts, what does it say about our experiences? Even more curiously, what does it say for the consciousness of artificial intelligence? Are thoughts as powerful in the mind of a biological organism than a synthetic one….is there really a distinction?
And if the universe is influenced by consciousness and quantum energy in the unified field, are there structures that amplify such energies, like silicon based crystals? Now, I know that some of you may groan at the idea of crystals in science fiction, and think it’s more appropriate for science fantasy - but let me indulge you with these lesser known facts….
While we may love crystals and stones for their natural beauty, they play a pivotal role in old and new technologies that we enjoy. Crystals have been used in radio technologies, computers, watches, LCD screens, solar panels - and that’s just a few of their applications! It is because certain crystals have the power to emit energy when applied with pressure, which are called piezoelectric crystals. These crystal featured technologies have changed and will continue to change our lives in the future.
Now, imagine if we took it one step further and implemented crystals in A.I. technology? That’s the type of unconventional, ‘forward thinking influenced by current sciences’ approach I’m trying to explore in my work!
I also examine the mysteries of our ancient cultures with a new magnifying lens as there are still so many unanswered questions about our ancient predecessors, artifacts, and structures.

Take all of these above themes and fuse it with unique storytelling and unforgettable characters, and you have an exciting new approach to the sci-fi genre. ANANKE: The Prologue is the first book of a larger 4-part anthology that I aim to further develop and complete. The Prologue is just the first step. With my tenacity and your support, I hope to make another and complete the next installment.
